In Loving Memory
Barbara Jo Corner, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Duluth, Minnesota. Born on June 26, 1943, in Brainerd, MN, Barbara was the beloved daughter of Chester and Johanna Roberts.
Barbara was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Myasthenia Gravis (MG) at a young adult age; a challenge that shaped much of her life. She said, “I told my parents I would not let this rare disease stop me, and it hasn’t.” She remained an active member of the MG Foundation of America and chaired the Minnesota chapter for more than a decade. She has generously supported others facing the same diagnosis.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Brainerd and Breezy Point, MN, and dedicated her life to education and community. She graduated from Brainerd High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from St. Cloud State University, and later a Master of Arts in Education from Bemidji State University.
Barbara devoted 35 years to teaching elementary education in the Brainerd School District, serving the City of Nisswa. Her passion and commitment to her students led to multiple nominations for Teacher of the Year.
On July 13, 1972, Barbara married her loving husband, William Corner, in Sisseton, SD. Together, they celebrated 53 years of marriage, raising a family and building a legacy of love and kindness.
Barbara cherished time spent knitting, gardening, reading, and always enjoying the lake. She is survived by her husband, William Corner; her brother, Chuck Roberts; three children, Todd (Kathy) Corner, Heather Grimstad, and Glain (Lisa) Corner; seven grandchildren, Jacob (Marsha) Corner, Brittany Corner, Karrigan (Nate) Struckman, Kennedy Grimstad, Hannah Corner, Rileigh Corner, and Lindsey Corner; and four great-grandchildren, Eli Corner, Stella Struckman, Lily Struckman, and Lance Struckman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Johanna Roberts, and her brother, Larry Roberts.
Visitation will be held at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd, MN on May 29th at 10:00 AM, followed by Funeral Services at 11:30 AM and a luncheon at 1:00 PM. Urn internment will take place after the luncheon at Breezy Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Minnesota (www.mgminnesota.com).
Barbara will be remembered for her dedication to education, her warmth, and her love for family and friends. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
