Amy Dauber

Amy Joyce (Watters) Dauber was born January 14, 1943 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Calvin S. Watters and Arcola N. Ritter. She lived most of her childhood in Daggett, CA, and studied Bible College at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. She passed away Apr 11, 2023, at Whitefish at the Lakes Senior Living in Crosslake, MN. Her memorial is Friday, April 21 at 1 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:00 noon at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.

Amy is survived by her husband, Floyd Dauber; twin daughters, Naomi Peter Gill) and Ruth; son, Timothy (Andrea); six grandchildren: Hannah, Lydia and Jadon Gill and Megan, Emily and Katelyn Dauber; her sister, Beth (Lenny Page); 8 nephews, one niece and many cousins. Amy was preceded in death by her brother, David and her parents, Calvin and Arcola Watters.

Amy began her spiritual journey when she believed in Jesus and received Him into her life at the early age of five. A few years later, she felt God’s call to serve as a foreign missionary, which service she began in 1966 as the receptionist for Gospel Missionary Union (now Avant Ministries) in Smithville, MO. She married Floyd Dauber on June 19,1970, in Pine River, MN and then with her husband served in Colombia, Ecuador and Spain until June 2009. From 2009 until May of 2021, she hosted international student resort workers while they worked in the Breezy Point area. They traveled each winter for about three months to Ecuador continuing ministry with churches there.

Amy was known for her warm smile, frequent laughter, love for music, especially the piano (she played 4 instruments), and taught many students. She also directed a number of choirs and enjoyed singing hymns. Amy was gifted in hospitality not only in making cakes, pies and monster cookies but often full meals for groups of people. She had a big heart for children and taught them in homes, churches, Bible camps, etc. Amy also taught adults, youth music, Bible courses and always was concerned for their salvation and spiritual growth. Prayer was a huge part of Amy as she truly wanted to see people come to know Christ and grow in their faith. Her compassion went out to those who were physically ill and was treated like a nurse as she cared for some of their health needs.

Although travel was hard for her, Amy traveled to about 20 countries and worked with people from all over the world, which included over 30 nationalities. Amy took on challenging situations including busing children and adults to and from church activities, supporting her husband, even when he was ill or receiving threats of death or kidnapping due to being foreigners. She learned and spoke Spanish well and studied Quichua while ministering to the indigenous people. She willingly served in worship ministries in churches that she attended. She also served as dorm mother for MKs for two years and was a dedicated mother of her own three children. Her husband expressed that it was Amy who brought color and sweet aroma to their home and ministry. The fruit of her life will continue in eternity where she will be celebrated for her faithfulness.
