Regina Marie “Jean” Rau, 94, died Tuesday, 11-5-2019 at CRMC (Cuyuna Regional Medical Center) in Crosby, MN. The Mass of Christian Burial for Jean will be at 11 AM, Friday, November 9th at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, with visitation for one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will take place at Pelican Woods, Breezy Point, following the Mass.
Jean was born on October 30, 1925 in Gilman, MN, daughter of Andrew and Frances (Siegmund) Lewandowski. She was raised and educated at Gilman and attended the Foley High School. She was united in marriage with Norbert Rau on June 8, 1946 in St. Cloud. They made their home in St. Cloud, until 1953, when they built their home in Robbinsdale, where they lived until 1985. In 1985, they moved to their cabin at Breezy Point. Norb died on August 8, 2008. Jean moved to Crosslake in 2012, where she had lived since.
Jean was a homemaker and loved sewing clothes for her daughter’s and grandchildren. She also worked as an associate with Lloyd’s Tours. Jean and Norb enjoyed traveling extensively and attending the USS Essex Ship Reunions. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, crafting, working crossword puzzels and fishing. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pequot Lakes, the VFW Auxiliary in Jenkins and St. Alice’s Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes and later in life worshipped at Golden Horizon’s Assisted Living through Mass and Rosary participation provided by Immaculate Heart Catholic Church of Crosslake.
Survivors include her children: Nancy (Daryl) Weber of Maple Grove, Mark (Shar) Rau of Elk River, Susan (Bill) Schaefer of Outing, and Debbie (Leo) Castellan of Carlsbad, CA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Frances Lewandowski; nine siblings: Leonard, Peter, Clara, Henry, Frances, Al, Clarence “Bud”, Frank and Margaret “Margie”.
