Virgil Lundberg

Virgil “Virg” Frank Lundberg, 83, of Pine River, formerly of Apple Valley, passed away March 12, 2018.

Virgil was born February 27, 1935 to Mabel and Frank Lundberg in Cambridge, MN, the first of five children. When Virg was 6, the family moved to Minneapolis. He graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School. He spent four years in the National Guard as a military policeman. Virg was a Sargent on the Lino Lakes Police Force before dedicating 26 years to the Minneapolis Fire Department as a driver/engineer. He had a daughter and three sons. In 1976, he married Ann and they raised his three boys and her one son.

He loved to design his houses and build them himself. In 1989, Virg and Ann built a home on Arrowhead Lake. They joined the Log Church in Crosslake where Virg ushered for many years. He volunteered for 19 years with the Whitefish Island Project. He was also a Pequot Lakes-Breezy Point Lions Member and a member of the Pequot Lakes American Legion. In addition, he also worked for the Pequot Lakes School District driving activities buses for eight years.

Virg loved hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was so loved and will be so missed.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann; daughter, Dawn (Ron) Tillson; sons, Tad (Gloria) Lundberg, Darrin (Susan) Mitchell, Troy Lundberg, and Trent (Chris) Lundberg; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Moller, Shirley Pedersen, and Darlene Collins; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters in law, Terry Bakke, and Kim (Dwayne) Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wayne.

Services will be held at the Log Church in Crosslake, on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Mark Holmen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
