Ruby Sanderson

Ruby Sanderson, 89, of Staples, MN died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. Services for Ruby will be 11:00AM, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service.

Ruby was born March 31, 1928 in McCoysburg, IN to William and Viola (Owen) Small. She graduated from Kentland High School in Kentland, IN. Ruby was united in marriage to Dale Sanderson in Sheldon, IL. They lived in Goodland, IN for a number of years, then moved to Maple Plain, MN in 1969 and to Staples, MN in 1972. Ruby enjoyed ice skating and sledding in her younger years, being a Girl Scout Leader, camping, fishing, bowling, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, watching birds and wildlife, and going to the lake. She had a catering business and was also a cake decorator, making all of her children and grandchildren’s birthday and wedding cakes. Ruby especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruby is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Russell) Hanson of Howard Lake, MN, Cheryl Harvey of Staples, David (Melanie) Sanderson of Staples; one sister, Gladys Sell; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren; and many others who will fondly remember her as Ma and Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Viola; and husband, Dale; brother Howard; sister, Dorothy. Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
