Merrill Pregler

September 15, 1924 — March 11, 2018

Merrill “Bub” J. Pregler, 93, of Brainerd, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Cherrywood Assisted Living in St. Cloud. Services for Merrill will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 16, 2018 at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd with Pastor Justin Halbersma officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Military Honors will be provided by the Brainerd American Legion and VFW. Interment next to his wife, Louise will be held summer 2018.

Merrill was born September 15, 1924, in Redwood Falls, MN, the son of George J. and Maude A. (Zumwinkle). He attended school before working as a farmer and machinist for a number of years. He also worked for the Minnesota State Parks. In 1983, he married Louise Zimmer in Hutchinson. The couple moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1989. Merrill was a member of Park United Methodist Church and Brainerd American Legion. He was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed camping and square dancing.

Merrill will be missed by his children, William Anderson, of Albany and Bruce Anderson, of Mariette, WI; daughters-in-law, Sandra Anderson, of Princeton and Suzanne Harkins, of Sauk Rapids; siblings, Goldye Heminson, of St. Louis Park, James Pregler, of Brooklyn Park, and Lloyd Pregler, of Paynesville; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his best buddy, Snoopy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; children, Gerald and David; and siblings, Mildred, Myron, Donna, Lois, George, Glenn, and Alan.

The family is very grateful for the care and kindness the staff at Cherrywood Assisted Living provided Merrill during his last days.
