Jerrold Schiller

April 18, 1923 — February 12, 2018

Jerrold F. Schiller, 94, of Hermantown, died on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in Hermantown, MN. Services for Jerrold will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Visitation will begin at noon at the chapel. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

Jerrold was born April 18, 1923 on a farm South of Brainerd, the son of John and Mabel (Freeman) Schiller. He graduated Brainerd High School in 1941. Jerrold served in the US Army from 1944-1946 as part of the 37th Infantry Headquarters Company and earned a Bronze Star. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Brainerd. He and his sister participated in the dairy business for more than 20 years. He was proud to be a member of the Brainerd Lakes Area for 90 years.

Jerrold enjoyed music and liked to dance and play the accordion, especially at nursing homes or assisted living facilities. He also liked to ice fish and was excited when he speared a 17.5” Northern. He spent time playing cards, more often than not it was cribbage, but he also made time to grow a vegetable garden. He was a member of the Brainerd VFW, Post #1647.

He will be missed by his daughter, Robin (Tim) Archambault, of Hermantown; grandchildren, Blair (Matt) Oquist, of Duluth and Derek Archambault, of Fridley; great-grandson, Cole Oquist, of Duluth; children, Brian Schiller of Denver, CO and Connie Schiller of Brainerd; nephew, Larry (Linda) Bachel, of Tucson, AZ; and niece, Linda (Jim Miksta) Doyne, of Seattle, WA He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel and sister, Arline Bachel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
