Georgianna “Jo” Swantz, 97, Brainerd, died February 11, 2018 at Woodland Good Samaritan Village. She was born February 22.1920 in Lester Prairie, MN. to Paul and Mathilda (Strei) Wolf. She was baptized and confirmed in our Lord at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, MN. On June 9, 1940 she was joined in holy matrimony to Ralph Edwin Swantz also at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Jo and Ralph raised 5 children in homes in Hutchinson, MN, La Crosse Wisconsin and New Ulm, MN, retiring on Crooked Lake, Bay Lake township in 1982 where they transferred their membership for the final time to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter MN.

She was a homemaker and a remarkable cake decorator. She was active in church activities, bible studies, banner making, alter and women’s guilds’. She moved from the lake to the Good Samaritan Village in 2001. There in spite of her failing eye sight she was involved in many volunteer activities, attending college online courses and working in the gift shop. She belonged to several card clubs, and also enjoyed playing cribbage and board games. In her own, quiet way she continued her mission work here at home, always offering comfort and prayer to those in need. “I am but a servant….the Glory is thine Oh Lord.”

Survivors include, sons Stephen (Shirley), Deerwood MN; Ralph J (Deb), Waterville, MN; Timothy (Barb), Aberdeen SD; daughter, Nadeen Lough, New Ulm, MN; son in-law Elroy Schultz, Farmington, MN; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by husband Ralph, daughter Paula Schultz, and brother Gordon Wolf.

Services will be 11 AM Thursday, February 15th, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran, Baxter, visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be Friday, February 16th, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, New Ulm, MN.

The family would like to express our thanks all the friends and care takers that helped mom through her last days.
