Dennis Lucas, age 64, of Motley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples, following a courageous, 17-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Dennis’s funeral service will be Wednesday, November 22, at 11 am, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Motley, with Reverend Paul Koehler officiating. Friends may visit on Tuesday, November 21, from 4-8 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue at the church from 10-11 am on Wednesday.
Dennis Walter Lucas was born August 27, 1953 in Moorhead, to Ray and Evelyn (Hales) Lucas. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School. He was married to Nancy Motl on May 13, 1994, in Brainerd. Dennis worked at Morey’s Seafood in Motley for 37 years. He was a member of the Motley Lions club. He was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, Dennis loved and valued his family and the time he spent with them.
Dennis is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 23 years; a stepson, Jeremy (Jodi) Jasmer of Alexandria; his brother and sisters, Ed (Hope) Lucas of Staples, Carol (Richard) Edgerly of West Fargo, ND, Linda Lucas of Motley, and Sandy (Jim) Griebel of Delano; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and a brother, Raymond.
