Carol M. Preisinger died surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in New York, NY at the age of 67, after a valiant battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her mother, Loretta Windschitl; eight brothers, Gary Windschitl of Motley, Ralph Windschitl of Motley, Tony Windschitl of Menahga, Bob Windschitl of Marble, Leo (Cyndi) Windschitl of Motley, Paul (Beth) Windschitl of Sioux Falls, SD, Tom Windschitl of Fridley, Roger (Rebecca) Windschitl of Columbia, MD; two sisters, Joan (Tim) Arango of Knoxville, TN, Rita Miller of Baxter; and 24 nieces and nephews. Carol was born February 24, 1949 in New Ulm, Minnesota and grew up on a farm in Stewart, Minnesota. She was salutatorian of her high school class and went on to study at the University of Minnesota. Carol moved to New York City to do her graduate work in philosophy at Columbia University. After finishing her Masters, she decided to change careers and started on a path that led to a successful career in banking. She retired as managing director of credit risk management at BNP Paribus. She was also the Vice Chair of the New Jersey City Development Fund Board of Directors where she endowed a generous scholarship fund. Carol was brilliant, courageous, and determined. She loved gardening and was a fabulous baker. She fought cancer as she did every injustice, with tremendous grace and tenacity. When she started graduate school at Columbia, she became part of a small group of friends who have been celebrating Thanksgiving together for more than forty years. They loved her and her alter ego, the peerless coloratura soprano Carolina Rotorola. Her family and friends are immensely proud of her accomplishments and will miss her tremendously. A memorial celebrating her life will be held at 2:00PM, on Friday, May 19, 2017, with visitation one hour prior to services at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
