| Marion Francis Wittenberg, age 83, of Brainerd, Minnesota passed away April 4, 2001 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 8, 2001 from 6 8 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Services will be on Monday, April 9, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Laestadian Lutheran Congregational Church in Plymouth, Minnesota. Visitation will be 1 hour before at the church. Burial will follow in the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to Laestadian Lutheran Mission Fund, 10911 Hwy 55, Suite 203, Plymouth, Minnesota 55441. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Marion Francis Wittenberg was born on September 29, 1917 in Albany, California daughter of Felix and Sophia (Rovenpera) Johnson. She grew up and attended schools in Oakland, California. In Oakland, California she was united in marriage to John Emil Wittenberg on June 30, 1939. They moved to Minneapolis in 1942. She worked for the Minneapolis Board of Education in the Administration Building. Following retirement they moved to Twin Lakes in Menahga, Minnesota in 1976. In 1990 they moved to Brainerd and resided at Laestadian Manor. They spent winters in Arizona for the past 23 years. She was a member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She enjoyed bicycling, swimming, hiking and fishing.
Marion is survived by her husband, John; 2 daughters, Diane Barber of Prescott, Arizona, Carol LaGrange, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 3 sons, John, Vernon and Paul Wittenberg of Seattle, Washington; a sister Judith Haglund, of Phoenix, Arizona; 2 brothers Robert Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, James Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona, 31
grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Her parents, 2 brothers Fred and Walter Johnson, and a sister Evelyn Hendrickson preceded her in death.
